Object Case Study
Winter 2024

Category
Print, Photography + Type
The objective of this project was to find the denotative and connotative meaning of an object. Photographing the object
in a wide-range series of images showing its full scale and depth. These images were then rendered to black and white and utilized as typographic compositions using language that adhered to the object’s essence. After finalizing the compositions through iteration, some were chosen and laid out as an exhibition grid for presentation. This project highlighted the importance of the semiotics between typography and image, representational messaging, and object nuance.
I learned to appreciate the deeper meaning behind
everyday tools and objects, and how to display scale in an exhibitional way.
